The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights at Jay's house in Maine, NY on 10/30/03. The weather was perfect with little to no moon and nice clear skies. These images were taken Jay's Canon Powershot A40 digital camera. The field of view is about the same as a 35mm lens on a 35mm camera. The Exposure times were 5-15 seconds. Film images are on the full page.

The Northern Lights at Jay's house in Maine, NY on 10/29/03. These images were taken during a couple of clear moments between the clouds with Jay's Canon Powershot A40 digital camera. The field of view is about the same as a 50mm lens on a 35mm camera. The Exposure times were 5-15 seconds.

The Northern Lights at The Black Forest Star Party On 9/7/02. Image 1,2 and 3 were taken with a medium format camera and a 35mm Zeiss lens. A 35mm medium format lens is about equal to a 20mm lens with a 35mm camera. Images 4, 5 and six were taken with a 35mm camera and a 50mm lens. Exposures were 10-30 seconds.
